Ah, labor. That magical time when you're in such searing pain, you can barely think straight. After getting to the hospital in a haze of agony, you get handed the generic hospital gown and are ushered into your room. In between contractions you put on the old, worn, sometimes torn gown, and wonder who the heck decided that having your behind hang out of the back was a good idea...? The hospital staff won't let you put your own pretty nightgown on, no matter how much you beg and plead. Then they explain that the gown allows access for your IV and the epidural! Okay, you shut up about it. Hopefully someone forewarned you and you brought a robe from home to cover up with when you need to roam around.
