Ah, labor. That magical time when you're in such searing pain, you can barely think straight. After getting to the hospital in a haze of agony, you get handed the generic hospital gown and are ushered into your room. In between contractions you put on the old, worn, sometimes torn gown, and wonder who the heck decided that having your behind hang out of the back was a good idea...? The hospital staff won't let you put your own pretty nightgown on, no matter how much you beg and plead. Then they explain that the gown allows access for your IV and the epidural! Okay, you shut up about it. Hopefully someone forewarned you and you brought a robe from home to cover up with when you need to roam around. If not, you're forced to make your husband/partner/best friend/mom/birthing coach/someone you know well enough to show your rear to- follow closely behind you through the halls.
Enough about my personal labor experiences, though. (Now you know why I never participate in those sweet 'birth story' blog parties, right?!)
That doesn't have to be the case. You can actually look good and not be exposed, while having the functionality of a maternity gown. Brittani, a certified nurse midwife, and her sister Ashley, a labor and delivery nurse, are all too familiar with the unsightly 'fashion' in the labor ward and have firsthand experience with them. They wanted to help make future moms-to-be feel confident and comfortable during labor, so they created LaborLooks gowns. These are maternity gowns with style. There are 10 beautiful patterns, are 100% cotton and the gowns wrap completely around. Mommy will be comfortable and pretty in those postpartum pics. *sigh* Why couldn't I have had one?!
Want to win one of these lovely gowns? Just head over to LaborLooks, browse the gowns, come back & leave me a comment telling me which is your favorite pattern. Make sure I can contact you if you're the winner. If you have a blogger account that leads me to your email, great. If not, please leave your email in your comment in a spam-unfriendly way. This contest will close next Friday, November 28th at 11:59 EST. I'll pick a winner via Random.org and the lucky person will be contacted by e-mail on Saturday.
Are you expecting? Have a shower for a BFF or relative coming up? This would make such a great gift. Right now, LaborLooks is also offering all of my readers 20% off! Just type the code " lusciousnis " for the discount.

I would LOVE the Ryann Princess one. Very very cute! Apparently hospitals around here (and maybe everywhere) only order LARGES. I'm an XSMALL, so the whole thing gets really hard to move around in. It'd be cool to have something made to actually fit me...
thanks for the giveaway!
I loved the Ryann Princess as well. I am excited about having a baby but not so excited about the whole hospital part...having a styling gown would make me feel a little better about it! Thanks for posting the giveaway!!!
Wow....I never knew such things existed. Very cool indeed. Thanks for sharing. Let's see...if I were to win (which I never do), I love the Kylee Powder in medium. Oh ya, and you know my email already :)
Ha! How cute is that? What a great idea! :)
I like the Kylee Powder, the one shown in your post. It's such a great color combination!

Those are great. I like this one: Devyn Rocker. I just had a baby, but plan to have a few more--plus I think I'll hear from my sis-in-law this Christmas that she's prego since they've been trying. :)

I'm having a baby in a few short weeks and would LOVE to have one less thing to worry about - maybe if I knew I was at least going to look stylish I wouldn't be so focused on hoping that this baby won't hurt me as much as the first one did! My favorite pattern is the Devyn Retro.
Thanks!
